Climb Out of Your Comfort Zone

quote-left

24 Meanwhile, the disciples were in trouble far away from land, for a strong wind had risen, and they were fighting heavy waves. 27 But Jesus spoke to them at once. “Don’t be afraid,” he said. “Take courage. I am here!” 29 “..come,” Jesus said. So Peter went over the side of the boat and walked on the water toward Jesus. Matthew 14:24-31
  • Is God providing an unconventional solution to your storm?
  • Is your comfort zone or “what’s always worked” keeping you from stepping out?
  • Is your faith in what God can do or what you can do?

A messenger…

quote-left

3 So Mary and Martha sent someone to tell Jesus, “Lord, the one you love is sick” 11 Then he said, “Our friend Lazarus has fallen asleep, but now I will go and wake him up.” John 11:3-14
  • If you had to entrust someone with the responsibility Martha gave her unnamed friend, who would you send?
  • Why would you choose them?
  • Who would choose you?
  • Why would they choose you?

Someone was chosen; someone had to walk the long path; someone had to sacrifice time with family and maybe a business, someone who knew Jesus and could be trusted to carry the message no matter how difficult it would have been.

Walking in the Dark

quote-left

12 Now we see things imperfectly, like puzzling reflections in a mirror, but then we will see everything with perfect clarity. All that I know now is partial and incomplete, but then I will know everything completely, just as God now knows me completely. – 1 Corinthians 13:12
  • Are you in need of direction, clarity or your next step?
  • Is understanding the “plan” a prerequisite for obeying?
  • Why does God not reveal all of the details to us…when we want them?
  • How long have you been putting off the next step because you can’t see the full vision?

When you are on a journey to fulfill a God-ordained Purpose and Vision, the path may not always be clear. Fear, critics, and fatigue will tempt us to settle. Take heart! You are God’s, you’re on His path, and He will provide and protect. Your job is to obey.

P.S. Trust in the Lord with all your heart, lean not on your own understanding, in all your ways acknowledge him and he will make your path straight. – Proverbs 3:5-6

Do You Believe?

quote-left

23 And Jesus said to him, “‘If You can?’ All things are possible to him who believes.” 24 Immediately the boy’s father cried out and said, “I do believe; help my unbelief.” – Mark 9:23-24‬
What do you believe?
  • In Him
  • In His purpose for you
  • In the vision He has called you to achieve (your mountain)
  • In the wisdom He will provide for crossroads on the path
  • In His provision for resources and people along the way

Where do you begin to doubt?
How is doubt in that area effecting you and others around you?
Is your doubt driven by your perception, fear or a reality?

In the Christmas Season, “Believe” becomes a big topic, But for Purpose-Driven Leaders, the battle between belief and unbelief is constant, and that often times becomes an excuse to settle. As you look back at the year and forward to the next, identify your doubt and ask the Lord to remove it so all things are possible.

I pray that the Lord blesses us all with the gift of courageous faith as we move to the next leg of the journey.

True Hope

quote-left

3 Don’t put your confidence in powerful people; there is no help for you there. 4 When they breathe their last, they return to the earth, and all their plans die with them. 5 But joyful are those who have the God of Israel as their helper, whose hope is in the LORD their God.” Psalms‬ ‭146:3-5‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Are You Hoping…
That He will use you and your team?
That He will bring the right people?
That He will provide the right resources?
That He will use your wounds?
That He will provide the Way?

Keyword: HE. He will do all those things.

Make sure your hope and confidence are in HIM, not in yourself or others. That Hope will not fail.

Needing a Breakthrough?

quote-left

3 ‘Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know.’ Jeremiah 33:3
5 But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all generously and without reproach, and it will be given to him. 6 But he must ask in faith without any doubting, for the one who doubts is like the surf of the sea, driven and tossed by the wind. James 1:5-8
  • Are their critical decision for your business that you urgently need answers to?
  • Have you checked to see if God has given the answer to someone around you?
  • Did you think God knows the answer?
  • Did you go to him first?
  • Why does God not give us the insights as soon as we ask?

Moses and Abraham both spoke directly with God to intervene on their people’s behalf. In both situations God provided answers and even altered his punishment on them – based on the conversation. Both Abraham and Moses clearly had a strong working relationship with the Lord, one that allowed them to communicate and ask confidently.

Value of A Great Storm

quote-left

33 I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth you will have many trials (storms) and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world.” John 16:33
  • Are you in a storm, just coming out or headed into one?
  • Why does the Lord promise storms in our lives?
  • What have you gained from storms in your life?
  • Do you personally grow more in good times or in a storm?
  • When storms hit, who do you look to for direction?

Other versions use the phrase, “take courage,” “take great joy,” and “take peace,” when life’s storms hit because I (Christ) have overcome the world.

It’s a promise. Count on it. Storms and trials of many kinds will be in our path, but the harvest that is gained, the renewed relationship with the Lord and the increase of capacity is worth it! If you are in the midst of a great storm, dig into “the Word” and reach out for guidance. Focus on the light, not the storm.

Bring out the Lion Chasers!

quote-left

David’s Mightiest Warriors… 20 There was also Benaiah son of Jehoiada, a valiant warrior from Kabzeel. He did many heroic deeds, which included killing two champions of Moab. Another time, on a snowy day, he chased a lion down into a pit and killed it. 2 Samuel 23:20
  • Do you have a purpose and vision for your organization that’s worth fighting for?
  • Have you connected what your organization does for the people and the needs in your markets?
  • Does your culture motivate around the impact they have on the communities you serve?
  • Are you are developing “lion chasers” – those who have the courage to stand alone and fight for your cause?

People in our world are desperate for something worth fighting for! If you are Purpose-Driven leader take a stand. Stop “creating jobs” and start developing warriors. Connect the people in your organization to the passion that drives you to “risk it all” and engage the lion chaser within each of them!

What do you need to Prune?

quote-left

15 “I am the true grapevine, and my Father is the gardener. 2 He cuts off every branch of mine that doesn’t produce fruit, and he prunes the branches that do bear fruit so they will produce even more. 3 You have already been pruned and purified by the message I have given you. 4 Remain in me, and I will remain in you. For a branch cannot produce fruit if it is severed from the vine, and you cannot be fruitful unless you remain in me. 5 “Yes, I am the vine; you are the branches. Those who remain in me, and I in them, will produce much fruit. For apart from me you can do nothing. (John 15:1-5)
  • Are you connected close enough to “the vine” to gain the spiritual nutrients and insights for your life and to run your business?
  • Are there unfruitful areas of your life that are distractions or hindrances that you need to prune?
  • Are there people, services, offices, divisions, projects or clients in your business that need to be pruned?
