6 In his grace, God has given us different gifts for doing certain things well. So if God has given you the ability to prophesy, speak out with as much faith as God has given you. 7 If your gift is serving others, serve them well. If you are a teacher, teach well. 8 If your gift is to encourage others, be encouraging. If it is giving, give generously. If God has given you leadership ability, take the responsibility seriously. And if you have a gift for showing kindness to others, do it gladly.
– Romans 12:6-8 NLT
- Have you defined your spiritual gifts?
- Do your responsibilities fully utilize your gifts?
- How is a person effected by not being in a role that aligns with their gifts?
- What would happen in your organization if everyone was clear and utilizing their gifts?
Deciding what to take on versus what to delegate can be very confusing, even for a leader whose Purpose, Vision and Plan are clear. The typical criteria for qualifying someone to take on a responsibility is your level of trust with them, their expertise, talent and past experiences. However, if we desire to personally connect people to our organization’s purpose, we must consider what God has naturally equipped them to do.
